Have you ever asked your mom to pray for you? I have. And one of the truly amazing graces is that as a believer in the Communion of the Saints, I can ask the Mother of our Lord and Savior to pray for me as well.
Everyone who has seen any Hollywood movie knows the Hail Mary. But I'd like to share a lesser known prayer request that we may also direct to The Blessed Virgin.
Alma Redemptoris Mater
Revered Mother of our Redeemer
the way to heaven for us now and always
come to our help as we fall and strive to rise.
All nature stood still in wonder
when you gave flesh
to your own flesh's Creator
Virgin at Gabriel's greeting,
Virgin now and always
take pity on us sinners.
To wrap up this post on this, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, how about some verse that's a bit more secular. The official story of this “prayer” is that Paul McCartny wrote it about his mom. I can believe that, but I can also believe that it is written about the New Eve.

Watch the video of the recording session, listen to the words, and see if you can see The Divine working through the secular, explaining The Blessed Virgin's answer to the Angel Gabriel: Let it be.
Or maybe it's just me.
